How I got into engineering

I've loved working with little Arduinos for as long as I can remember, and that interest only got more solid after volunteering with the ESQ summer camp at the University of Waterloo.

In 2025 I also spent a semester in the Innomasters program with engineering students at the University of Toronto, where my team designed and prototyped a water filtration system for underprivileged areas.

I definitely knew I was set for engineering after those experiences, and my time at RBC only reassured me that I had made the right decision!

Hardware and software

I've started to expand beyond my hardware experience into the software side too, and now I'm drawn to the intersection between the two, especially how a circuit and a program actually talk to each other.

Outside of class

When I'm not studying or designing, you'll probably find me at the gym, at a coffee shop, out playing a sport with friends, listening to Arabic music, cooking something in the kitchen, taking apart some random electronic just to see how it works, reading up on the current state of tech, or losing an hour to a Nintendo game.

My faith

My Coptic Orthodox faith is one of the most important parts of my life. I love learning more about my faith and growing closer to God through it. It gives me peace, especially during busy weeks of classes and projects, and it shapes how I try to treat the people around me. My church community has also been a big part of my life growing up. Some books I've been reading recently are Day by Day with the Early Church Fathers by Christopher Hudson and many of Pope Shenouda III's books.
